Four Miles of awesome...

Our stay at Fitzgerald River National Park has been great. We have stayed at Four Mile Beach campground, a small campground with ten sites for caravans/camper trailers and five for tents. It was very quiet. In addition to very clean pit toilets the campground has a hot shower … wonderful.

The campground is about 400m from the beach, so we can still hear the waves while being sheltered from the wind. It has been magic being able to wander down each morning, sit and have our coffee looking out at the Indian Ocean and not to mention the evening G&T!

The park boasts a rich diversity of native and rare plant species, many of which are found nowhere else. Lots of different birds also call the park home. The wildflowers are everywhere.

We spent Saturday exploring several of the beaches in the park and today we did the East Mount Barren Walk. East Mount Barren has an elevation of 311m. This class 4, 4km return walk has lots of very steep hills, extensive rock hopping and is often quite rough but when you get to the top the views are fantastic. From the top you can view Culham Inlet, the Eyre Range and Hamersley Inlet so well worth the walk.

Tomorrow we pack up and head to Esperance, about 380kms east.
